ABOUT ME

[ JORIEL - he/him ]

i am an ameture webdev & aspiring software dev. this website is my first project. every day i push myself to learn at least one new thing, whether something simple or completely out of my league, i just want to keep trying.

i find a certain kind of allure from the messy aesthetic of early 2000's-style webdev, so i'm starting from that angle and building my way up.

RECENT UPDATES:

Sept 11th, 2023: The bluey-inspired "yes/no button" projected was completed as of Sept 1st, 2023. Became a neocities supporter in order to be able to host mp3 files to the site, so the button is fully functional. I've been extremely sick for the past month. Almost always stuck at home, can't look at a screen let alone code. Brainstorming ideas for new projects and additonal websites, hopefully coming soon. This website is also well overdue for a makeover. We'll see how things go.

Aug 17th, 2023: Decided to execute project idea as a website because, turns out, apps are expensive to host. Project is a yes/no button inspired by the toy from Bluey. Project is currently being hosted here and is a heavy wip. Will likely need to become a neocities supporter because otherwise mp3 files arent supported... comes with the added perk of custom domains. Almost certainly heading this direction but taking time to consider.

Aug 15th, 2023: Little to no progress for the past week. Been sick. Still sick. Downloaded the "Mimo" app as further encouragement to learn the basics. Brainstorming for a new, extremely simple project -- project would be best executed as an app, not as a website, which i have absolutely no experience with. Will research. More to come.

Aug 7th, 2023: Fixed the broken button. Mistakenly coded as "onlick" instead of "onclick". Figured out the missing tag was an end font tag. Slightly modified css for the about page so that boxes were aligned properly.

Aug 4th, 2023: Added update log. Tried to rearrange the index page. Ended up breaking the button that links to the about page. This is literally only the button that is broken. Also frustrated with the client for saying "expected 'other' end tag" instead of just saying what end tag it wants.

July 2023: More experimental updates - experimenting with css; decorating divs, buttons, etc. Added randomizer. Spent 3 days trying to fix a bug with the randomizer after adding css to buttons broke it and ended up resolving with a bandaid solution. Added rainbow css headers.

June 2023: Basic foundational coding - webpage layout, organization, creation of the "about" page.

June 5th, 2023: Site creation.
